A "drone AMA pilot" refers to a person who flies a drone for hobby or recreation and is a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). As an AMA member, the pilot is expected to follow the AMA Safety Code and is generally exempt from the FAA's Part 107 remote pilot certificate requirement for recreational flights, provided they are not flying for commercial purposes. They are also required to pass the Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) and register their drone with the FAA.

Drone registration labels typically start with FAA but AMA members sometimes order them from us with the AMA prefix instead.
