The concept is great. Since the roots are at the top of the planter, water and nutrients reach them directly when the water seeps in through the reservoir at the top of the planter. The result is stronger and more robust plants.
In addition, the upside down planting system enables you to grow tomatoes, peppers, or any other vine-ripened crops (and even strawberries!) on a sunny patio, porch, or balcony. No yard needed. No digging or weeding required.
The Bottoms-Up planter can be used over and over for growing delicious produce. Be sure to clean thoroughly and store indoors over the winter.
Planting Tips from the manufacturer: Planter should hang at least 4' above the ground. Use a soil mix that contains sphagnum peat, perlite, and vermiculate. Keep soil moderately moist at all times.
