Galileo's liquid thermometers
10 multicolor floats
400 years ago Galileo discovered that specifically weighted floating bubbles would predictably rise or sink in a liquid as the temperature of that liquid changed.
Our decorative glass reproductions of Galileo's discovery measure temperature every 2 degrees from 64 degrees F to 82 degrees F. Each liquid-filled float weighs exactly .006 grams more than the one above it in the cylinder to ensure a stately and orderly procession of ups and downs as the temperature changes. To accomplish this balancing, the tags on which the temperature is marked are attached by hand. Floats are suspended in a clear, environmentally safe, nontoxic liquid.
Read the temperature by checking the tag on the lowest multicolor floating bubble. Accurate to within 1.5 degrees.
Dimensions: 21"H x 2" diameter. 10 multicolor floats. 5-year mfg. warranty.
