The AeroGarden uses NASA-tested aeroponic technology** to grow plants faster and more reliably than with any other method. You just add water, drop in the pre-seeded grow plugs, turn on the garden, and watch it grow. The system automatically turns the grow lights on and off and reminds you when to add water and nutrients. The microprocessor adjusts nutrient delivery, light cycles, and water flow. Please read the following information on locating and growing the AeroGarden. You will want to make sure that you can provide the correct growing environment before embarking on this project.
- WHERE TO LOCATE YOUR GARDEN: Locate your AeroGarden away from direct sources of heat (e.g., stoves, furnace vents) and away from direct sources of cold air (e.g., window drafts, air conditioner vents). The indoor temperature should be 60 to 75 degrees F. The space should allow 22" clearance for the full height of the raised lamp and should be near an electric outlet. Make sure the surface is sturdy, water tolerant, and preferably not metal (a metal surface may cause noise due to vibration).
- GROWING YOUR GARDEN: For optimal harvesting, the bright lights should be on for 16 continuous hours/day (you can select the hours). Always use room temperature municipal tap, bottled, or purified water. Do not use well water or softened water.
** ABOUT AEROPONICS: With aeroponics, plant roots are grown into the air instead of into soil and water. Roots grown into a 100 percent humid, rainforest growing chamber and are bathed with organic-based nutrients and surrounded by oxygen for fast, healthy growing.
