ABOUT THE FILTERS: Hamilton Beach recommends replacing the HEPA filter every 12 months and the carbon pre-filter at least every 3 months. The primary use for the pre-filter is to trap large dust and hair particles in an inexpensive filter, extending the life of the HEPA filter. A secondary benefit to the carbon filter is that it captures odors. Replacement HEPA filters and carbon pre-filters are available below.
ABOUT THE UV GERMICIDAL LIGHT: Hamilton Beach's custom UV light is designed to provide approximately 6,000 hours (250 days) of effective germicidal protection. After this time the light may remain illuminated, but its effectiveness is greatly reduced. For maximum germicidal protection, replace the UV light when replacing the HEPA filter or if the light does not glow when the UV switch is on.
